On February 21st, Charter Australia, in collaboration with SSI and the Department of Education, hosted an Information Day at SSI's Liverpool office for the Asylum Seeker Traineeship Program.

Asylum seeker clients, SSI colleagues, Apprenticeship Support Network representatives and Department of Education representatives, employers in the aged care and NDIS sectors, actively engaged in the event.

In partnership with SSI and supported by DET ASESS, Charter Australia launched the Asylum Seeker Traineeship Program, a pilot program of DET aimed at aiding asylum seekers to secure traineeship employment in the aged care and NDIS sectors. The objective of this project is in line with ASESS's main goal, which is to assist in helping asylum seekers secure a brighter future for themselves and their families by finding employment.

At the heart of the event was our team's dedication to providing the most updated and useful information about traineeships. Through informative sessions and one-on-one consultations, attendees gained a comprehensive understanding of the benefits and requirements of pursuing a traineeship.

Two representatives from the Department of Education supported the event with their presence, underscoring the importance of our collective mission.

The presence of the Apprenticeship Support Network further enriched the event, offering additional resources and guidance to both employers and asylum seeker clients.

As the day drew to a close, it was evident that the Information Day had achieved its objectives and more. Attendees left feeling inspired, informed, and empowered to take the next steps in their health care career journeys. The success of the event is a testament to the collective effort of all involved – from the SSI team, the Department of Education, to our dedicated team, employers, and support networks.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of all involved. As we celebrate this achievement, we look forward to building on this momentum and creating a successful pathways for the asylum seeker clients to secure traineeship employment in the aged care and NDIS sectors.
