Overview
English for Healthcare and Nursing - Upper Intermediate - OET Preparation
The program is tailored for students who have completed the Intermediate level English Healthcare and Nursing course or equivalent (the course develops English skills at an upper intermediate level). It focuses on developing the spoken and written communication skills required by healthcare professionals, in situations such as staff-patient interactions, workplace instructions, shift handover meetings and more, by preparing students for the professional language needs of the industry in Australia. Students will focus on nursing topics and professional communication skills relevant to their career path, using high quality materials including Occupational English Test (OET) practice tests.

Medical Terminology
Target vocabulary specific to healthcare and nursing, including patient admissions, respiratory problems, wound and diabetes care, medications, pre- and post-operative patient assessment. Students practise using useful vocabulary in role plays, online games, quizzes and real-world writing tasks.

Intake Dates
Charter Australia adopts a rolling enrolment model. Domestic students have the flexibility to enrol in any week when a new unit of competency commences. International students, on the other hand, are able to enrol at the start of each school term. Please refer to the Term Dates for further information.

Course Duration & Delivery
Duration: 15 weeks classes + 1 week review period
New students can commence on any Monday during term, however we suggest starting at the beginning of the term and finishing all 15 weeks, as each week will focus on specific healthcare topics.
