Course Code: HLTAID009
Overview
HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. The course applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Charter Australia recommends, in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, that CPR skills are renewed at least every 12 months.
Please note It is a requirement of this course that you are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on a CPR manikin placed on the floor.
Award Issued
Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the statement of attainment for: HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
Learning Outcome
Upon completion HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, learners will be able to demonstrate the necessary skills and knowledge to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and manage the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. Learners will develop the competence to assess and respond to emergency situations, perform CPR on adults, children, and infants, effectively operate AEDs, and coordinate their actions with emergency services until professional help arrives.

Entry Requirements

Delivery Mode
HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is delivered in a blended learning model including:
- Self-paced learning and online assessment (about 8 hours)
- 0.5 day practical classroom training and assessment.

Assessments
Students will be assessed through an online quiz, demonstration of practical skills, participation of role plays and analysis of case studies.
Note: It is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the adult manikin on the floor.
Pathways to Further Studies
A Statement of Attainment of HLTAID009 - Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation will be issued following successful completion of this course and can be used to seek credit transfer towards achieving an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualification.
