Course Overview
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course covers a broad range of topics to enable participants to confidently manage emergency situations and provide a first aid response to a casualty. The emergency situations can be in the home, workplace or within the community, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. Most workplaces require a specific number of people to successfully complete this qualification. Charter Care recommends, in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, that first aid skills are renewed at least every three years and CPR skills every 12 months.
Please note it is a requirement of this course that you are physically capable of performing uninterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on a CPR mannequin placed on the floor.
Award Issued
Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the statement of attainment for HLTAID011 Provide first aid.
HLTAID011Provide first aid covers the competency requirements of HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
Learning Outcome
Upon completing Unit HLTAID011, learners will be able to:- Recognise and respond to various emergency situations.
- Perform CPR following ARC guidelines.
- Provide first aid for common injuries and illnesses, including bleeding, wounds, burns, and musculoskeletal injuries.
- Respond to allergic reactions, anaphylaxis, and medical emergencies.
- Administer first aid for bites, stings, and poisoning incidents.
- Manage environmental emergencies like heat stroke and drowning.
- Communicate incident details effectively and adhere to reporting procedures.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality.
- Address psychological impacts and contribute to the response review.

Entry Requirements

Delivery Mode
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is delivered in a blended learning model including:
- Self-paced learning and assessment (about 8 hours), and

1-day practical classroom training and assessment

Assessments
Students will be assessed through an online quiz, demonstration of practical skills, participation of role plays and analysis of case studies.

Pathways to Further Studies
A Statement of Attainment of HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid will be issued following successful completion of this course and can be used to seek credit transfer towards achieving an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualification.
