Entry Requirements
For Charter Australia’s minimum entry requirements, please visit the Entry Requirements page. In addition to the minimum requirements, entry to this qualification also requires applicants:
- to hold one of the following qualifications
- CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, or
- CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
- A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC)

Delivery Mode
Students are offered two (3) delivery options to complete the CHC50121 - Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care course.
1. In-Class
- Twelve (12) months enrolment period starting each school term
- Blended learning mode combining classroom sessions, self-paced study, work placement. Classes will be delivered two days per week during a 12 months period, with breaks between school terms.
- Intake dates are at the beginning of each school term.
- This delivery mode suits both domestic and international students.
2. Self-Paced
- Twelve (12) months enrolment period starting anytime
- Self-paced study via online platform and work placement.
- Self-paced study is ideal for most domestic students, especially those living in regional or remote areas who may have limited access to training facilities.
3. Traineeship
- On the job and self-paced study. Traineeship will be 2 years full-time.

Work Placement
Work Placement
For this qualification students must have completed at least 280 hours of work placement (Not applicable for traineeship enrolment).
Charter Australia organises work placements for our enrolled students in a regulated children’s education and care service.
Before undertaking any work placements in a regulated children’s education and care centre, students will be required, at their own cost, to undertake a:
- National Police Check
- Health screening & any necessary vaccinations including Covid-19 vaccination
- Child protection certificate
- First Aid and CPR Certification (Included in the study)
- Food handler certificate (Included in the study)

University Pathway
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education:
Many universities offer up to 1 year to 1.5 years of credit toward a Bachlor of Early Childhood Education for students who have completed a diploma, allowing them to complete a bachelor's degree in a shorter time frame.
