Work Placements and the Job Support Program at Charter Australia

Work Placement Information for Students

What is a Work Placement?

Work placement is a mandatory part of almost all qualification courses at Charter Australia. It gives you the chance to practise your skills in a real workplace and prepare for your future career.

Some short courses, such as HLTHPS007 Administer and monitor medication, also include assessment tasks that must be completed in a workplace setting.

What we offer - Our Partnerships

Charter Australia has strong, long-standing relationships with many reputable aged care service providers. We arrange placements for all enrolled students, ensuring you have access to safe and supportive workplaces.

Can you find your own Work Placement?

Students are also encouraged to contact employers to explore opportunities yourself. If you find a placement, it must be approved by the Program Coordinator at Charter Australia before you commit, to make sure it is appropriate for your course.

Your Path from Classroom to Career
  • Learn by doing: Apply your classroom knowledge in real situations.

  • Build confidence: Gain experience working with clients and staff.

  • Make connections: Meet professionals in the industry who may help you in the future.

  • Career pathway: Employers can see your skills and may offer you opportunities after placement.
I am currently working at a Home care/Aged care service. Can my work placement hours be replaced by my working hours?

Yes, but only if your job role includes:

  • Facilitating the empowerment of older people

  • Supporting independence and well-being for clients

  • Providing support to people living with dementia

  • Meeting personal support needs

Delivering home and community support services

Can I find my own place to do the work placement?

Yes, you can, but you must get approval from Charter Australia first. Please contact us before confirming.

What should I do if I have questions about my course or work placement?

You can contact your trainer or Work Placement Coordinator by email, or call us during business hours. Our student support staff are here to help.
