Smart and Skilled (NSW Government Subsidised Training)
Charter Australia is an approved Smart and Skilled provider delivering nationally recognised vocational education and training under the NSW Government’s Smart and Skilled program.
What is Smart and Skilled?
Smart and Skilled is a NSW Government initiative that provides eligible individuals with access to subsidised vocational education and training.
The program aims to:
- Support skill development for employment
- Improve access to training across New South Wales
- Provide government subsidies for approved qualifications
Charter Australia delivers training in accordance with NSW Government Smart and Skilled requirements.
Courses Approved Under the Smart and Skilled Program
The following courses offered by Charter Australia are approved under the NSW Government Smart and Skilled program and may be delivered with government-subsidised funding, subject to student eligibility and available funding:
- CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support
- HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance
- CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support
- CHC43415 Certificate IV in Leisure and Health
- CHC52025 Diploma of Community Services
Funding availability for each course depends on availability at the time of application.

Eligibility for Smart and Skilled Funding
To access Smart and Skilled funding, students must meet NSW Government eligibility criteria, which may include:
- aged 15 years or older
- no longer at high school
- living or working in NSW (or an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person living in specific defined interstate NSW border areas)
- an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen
Additional eligibility conditions may apply depending on the course and funding category.

Fees under Smart and Skilled
Smart and Skilled is a subsidised training program, meaning the NSW Government contributes towards the cost of training for eligible students.
Students may be required to pay a student contribution fee, which is determined based on:
- Course type and qualification
- Student eligibility category
- Prior qualifications (if applicable)
- Concession eligibility
- Fee exemption eligibility
- Availability of FEE FREE NSW initiatives
The exact fee will be confirmed prior to enrolment through the NSW Government Notification of Enrolment process once your application has been received. Refer to our Enrolment Information.
Fee Free NSW Initiative
Some students may be eligible for Fee-Free NSW training places under the Smart and Skilled program. Eligibility is subject to NSW Government criteria and funding availability.

Fee Exemption and Concession Eligibility
Some students may be eligible for fee exemption or concession rates under NSW Government Smart and Skilled guidelines.
This may include:
- Eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
- Eligible concession card holders
- Students receiving Disability Support Pension (DSP) or dependent on DSP recipients
- Refugees and asylum seekers
- Other NSW Government-approved concession or exemption categories
Eligibility is determined in accordance with Smart and Skilled funding rules and confirmed prior to enrolment. Supporting evidence may be required.
