English for Healthcare and Nursing
In this course, you’ll develop English skills and confidence to work as an Assistant in Nursing in a hospital or aged care setting. You’ll build essential healthcare vocabulary, practise real workplace communication, and take part in role‑plays that teach you how to talk with patients, clients, and colleagues.

Overview
This upper-intermediate English course prepares you for the communication needs of working in the healthcare and aged care industries. You will develop your language skills in order to read and understand workplace texts, write observations, communicate with patients and clients, and participate in meetings. You will also practise job-seeking skills and do interview role-plays.
Key Strengths
Clinical Terminology
Build up your clinical vocabulary so that you can confidently speak and write in the workplace. Topics include medical history, symptoms, vital signs, medication, and much more. You won’t just learn new words, you’ll practise them repeatedly in role-plays, discussions, mini-presentations and writing tasks.
Passionate & Experienced Teachers
Our experienced English language teachers will provide you with a variety of fun opportunities to practise your English skills. They will explain difficult vocabulary and grammar points clearly, and help you to build confidence and level-up your English ability.
Communication Skills
We focus on real workplace communication skills through discussions, role-plays and mini-presentations. Practise communication skills such as admitting a patient, taking vital signs, assisting an older person with mobility, participating in a handover meeting, and joining a safety huddle.
Relevant Learning Materials
Our learning materials are created in-house, and everything is available to you online. You don’t need to use a textbook. The lessons are continually updated to align with current Australian workplace practices.
Career Opportunities
The English for Healthcare and Nursing course can enhance your employability in the healthcare or aged care fields. You will learn the language skills that enable you to communicate in jobs such as Assistant in Nursing (AIN), aged carer or disability carer.

Entry Requirements

Pathways to Further Studies
English for Healthcare and Nursing is integrated into Charter Australia’s Study and Work Program.
The Study and Work Program combines English training with a nationally recognised vocational qualification in aged care, disability, or early childhood education, and includes job placement support. This pathway provides a step-by-step journey from foundation English skills to real employment outcomes.
English for Healthcare and Nursing also provides a pathway to OET Preparation and OBA registration for internationally registered nurses who wish to become registered nurses in Australia.
