Course - English for Care Professionals

Overview

This program gives students the language skills to work in professional care settings, where they support the wellbeing, development and independence of vulnerable people. The course content is relevant to a range of industries, including childcare, education, aged care, disability care, nursing, allied healthcare and community services. Students will build their professional communication skills so that they can excel in the Australian workplace.

Our topics include Nutrition, Workplace Health and Safety, First Aid, Children's Health and Development, Hygiene and Disease Prevention, and more. The course also equips you with knowledge of the Australian job market, job-seeking skills and workplace communication skills. The exact topics in your course will depend upon your enrolment date.

Communication Skills

Focus on real workplace communication skills such as interacting with people in your care and collaborating with colleagues. Practise scenarios such as giving instructions, providing advice, supporting independence, reporting incidents and participating in meetings. Learn workplace jargon and technical terms to communicate effectively in the Australian workplace.
Childcare Centre Tours
Optional visits to local childcare centres, where students can gain valuable first-hand experience in Australia.

You can enrol in the course for 5 or 10 weeks. The length of enrolment depends on your current English level

Lots of opportunities to practise language in simulated work situations and learn specialist vocabulary.

Learning Materials

The learning materials are all provided via our online portal. There is no need to purchase a textbook. The resources include reading and writing tasks, videos and listening tasks, speaking activities, and realistic materials from the Australian workplace.

Delivery Mode

This course is delivered online through Charter E-Campus or face to face in North Sydney campus, 4 days per week.

To join the course online, you will need:

a computer, laptop or tablet
a webcam and microphone
a stable internet connection
a quiet place to study

We do not recommend using a phone as your main device.
