The HLTHPS006 Assist Clients with Medication short course is designed for community services and health workers who require the skills and legal understanding to safely assist clients with the self-administration of medication.
Whether you are supporting individuals due to ageing, disability, or other vulnerabilities, this course provides you with the practical knowledge to prepare for, provide, and document medication assistance. You will also learn how to confidently support clients to self-administer their own medications in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, duty of care, and industry codes of practice.
HLTHPS006 is therefore ideal for community services and health workers with authority in their state or territory to assist with the administration of medication.
This course forms part of the elective units of the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support and Charter Australia is now offering it as a standalone course for qualified healthcare professionals and graduates in this sector.
No prior experience is needed and is ideal for graduates entering the industry or students completing their course training.
The HLTHPS006 Assist Clients with Medication is available via a hybrid learning model which includes the online self-paced study with a face-to-face in person workshop in North Sydney, NSW and work placement assessment.

Students will be able to learn how to:

- Maintain Compliance: Complete accurate, legally compliant medication documentation and administration charts.
- Handle Contingencies: Recognise, report, and document any inconsistencies, client reactions, or changes in a client's condition.
