Overview
Diploma of Community Services reflects the role of community services workers involved in the delivery, management and coordination of person-centred services to individuals, groups, and communities.
At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously within their scope of practice under broad directions from senior management.
Workers support people to make change in their lives to improve personal and social wellbeing and may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers. They may also undertake case management and program coordination.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 400 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.
The course is in the application process of being accredited by the ACWA. If accreditation becomes successful, graduates can immediately become eligible for membership of the ACWA and enjoy the benefit of membership.

Intake Dates
Charter Australia adopts a rolling enrolment model. Domestic students have the flexibility to enrol in any week when a new unit of competency commences. International students, on the other hand, are able to enrol at the start of each school term. Please refer to the Term Dates for further information.

Delivery Mode
Duraton: two years (104 weeks), with the option for early completion available under the condition that all assessment material is completed.
The 104 weeks period that this course is run over consists:
- 80 teaching weeks and 24 weeks school break
- Training will be delivered via a combination of online and face-to-face classes.
- 400 hour work placement
Location
Classroom training will be delivered on Charter Australia’s North Sydney campus at: Level 3, 53 Walker Street, North Sydney, NSW 2060 Australia.
Work Placement
Charter Australia’s work placement program for CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services is designed based on the ACWA fieldwork placement requirements for diploma and higher education level courses. For this qualification students must have completed at least 400 hours of work placement. For those students not already working in the community service sector, Charter Australia will organise work placement for enrolled students in suitable community service organisation(s).
Before undertaking any work placements, students will be required, at their own cost, to undertake a:
• National Police Check
• Working with Children Check
• Health screening & any necessary vaccinations
