Overview

The 17 week Study and Work Program - Childcare Stream offers working holiday visa holders a comprehensive Australian experience. This program combines:

  • CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care qualification with
  • Charter Australia’s Job Assist Program,

providing both training and job placement support in one package. You will gain a nationally recognised qualification, secure job placements, and kickstart your career in Australia's childcare sector.

Program Outcomes

By completing the Study and Work Program - Childcare Stream, you will:
  • Earn the Australian nationally recognised CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
  • Be qualified for various roles in the Australia's early childhood education sector, such as:
    • Early Childhood Educator: Work in childcare centres, kindergartens, or preschools, supporting children's development and learning.
    • Family Day Care Educator: Provide care and education to children in a home-based setting.
    • Out of School Hours (OOSH) Care Assistant: Assist with caring for children in before and after-school programs.
    • Nanny or Private Childcare Provider: Offer in-home childcare services to families.
      Education Support Worker: Support children's learning in early learning environments or classrooms.
  • Secure a job placement in Australia's early childhood sector.

Job Assist Program

The program allows students to be ready for job hunting through 2 services:

  • Job Ready Workshop
    • Resume Writing & Reviewing and Job Interview Preparation.
  • Job Referral Process

Entry Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have English proficiency equivalent to IELTS 5.5. Charter Australia's English Placement Test may be required upon application.
  • Must have a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) (to be completed in Australia with applicable fees).
  • Must be physically and emotionally fit to work with children.

Delivery Mode

The Study and Work Program - Childcare Stream is an intensive learning program that requires dedication to complete within a short timeframe.

  • The program runs for 17 weeks, including
    • 8 weeks of full-time classroom training and
    • 5 weeks of work placement (160 hours)
    • 4 weeks review and job placement period.
  • The program offers a blended learning approach, combining online theory with practical, on-campus workshops. Most of the training is delivered in a classroom setting.
Work Placement

CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care requires 160 hours of work placement. 

Charter Australia organises work placements for our enrolled students in a regulated children’s education and care service.

Before undertaking any work placements in a regulated children’s education and care centre,  students will be required, at their own cost, to undertake a:

  • National Police Check
  • Health screening & any necessary vaccinations including Covid-19 vaccination
  • Child protection certificate
  • First Aid and CPR Certification (Included in the study)
  • Food handler certificate (Included in the study)

To attend work placement, students are required to wear Charter Australia’s uniform (included in the materials fees). 

Assessments

Two main types of assessments for CHC30121 - Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care:

  • Written assessments, including questions completed by students in their own time
  • Demonstration of practical skills, observed by your trainer and/or workplace supervisors

Pathways to Further Studies

CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care provides a pathway to further study, such as pursuing CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, which can lead to more advanced positions like a room leader or centre manager, and potentially higher education qualifications for teaching roles.
