Overview

Charter Australia’s Study and Work Program – Childcare Stream is designed for Working Holiday Visa holders who want to gain real skills, recognised qualifications, and paid experience in Australia’s childcare sector.

This comprehensive 17-week program combines:

Gain a nationally recognised qualification, complete your job placement in an Australian childcare setting, and kickstart your career in early childhood education — all while enjoying an authentic Australian experience.

*If you have not yet met the English language entry level for your chosen program, consider enroling in our Online Foundation English for Study & Work course. This course is designed to help you build the language skills needed to succeed in the Study and Work Program all streams. 

Career Opportunities

Build the skills and confidence to work in a range of rewarding early childhood education roles, including:

  • Early Childhood Educator – Support children’s learning and development in childcare centres, kindergartens, or preschools.

  • Family Day Care Educator – Provide quality care and education for children in a home-based environment.

  • Out of School Hours (OOSH) Care Assistant – Help deliver before- and after-school programs for school-aged children.

  • Education Support Worker – Assist children’s learning and wellbeing in early learning settings or classrooms.

What are the Entry Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have English proficiency equivalent to IELTS 4.5. Charter Australia's English Placement Test may be required upon application.

What is the delivery mode?

The Study and Work Program - Childcare Stream is an intensive learning program that requires minimum five days per week dedication to complete within 17 weeks timeframe.

  • The program runs for 17 weeks, including
    • 10 weeks of full-time classroom training and
    • 4 weeks of work placement (160 hours)
    • 3 weeks review and job placement period.
  • The program offers a blended learning approach, combining online theory with practical, on-campus workshops. Most of the training is delivered in a classroom setting.
How do Work Placements Work?

CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care requires 160 hours of work placement. 

Charter Australia organises work placements for our enrolled students in a regulated children’s education and care service.

Before undertaking any work placements in a regulated children’s education and care centre,  students will be required, at their own cost, to undertake a:

  • National Police Check
  • Health screening & any necessary vaccinations including Covid-19 vaccination
  • Child protection certificate
  • First Aid and CPR Certification (Included in the study)
  • Food handler certificate (Included in the study)

To attend work placement, students are required to wear Charter Australia’s uniform (included in the materials fees).

What does the assessment include?

Two main types of assessments for CHC30121 - Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care:

  • Written assessments, including questions completed by students in their own time
  • Demonstration of practical skills, observed by your trainer and/or workplace supervisors

Pathways to Further Studies

CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care provides a pathway to further study, such as pursuing CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, which can lead to more advanced positions like a room leader or centre manager, and potentially higher education qualifications for teaching roles.
