On 4 March 2024, Charter Australia hosted a memorable Alumni event, bringing together current students, graduates, employers, and industry experts to network and share experiences. The event, with a special focus on Japanese nationals in our Study and Work Program (SWP), was graced by the presence of Consul-General of Japan in Sydney, Sir Shuichi Tokuda, adding significance to the occasion.
Guest speakers provided valuable insights into cultural competence in nursing, employment opportunities, and the transition from education to professional practice in both Japan and Australia. Dr. May Iwata and Ms. Yumi Yasui shared their experiences, resonating deeply with attendees navigating similar paths.
The dedication to excellence was evident in the presentations and practical demonstrations led by our trainer, Jinky. These sessions showcased the practical training delivered to all our students.
Representatives from Lansdowne Gardens Aged Care shared inspiring success stories of employment outcomes through work placements, highlighting the real-world impact of our programs.
As the event came to a close, attendees embraced the opportunity for networking and celebration, reinforcing the sense of unity and camaraderie within the Charter Australia community.
In reflection, the event was a resounding success, thanks to the support of Consul General Shuichi Tokuda, the contributions of Facility Manager Jason Dick and Residential Services Manager Shannen Pozin from Lansdowne Gardens Aged Care, Dr. May Iwata, Charter Australia’s graduate representative Yumi Yasui, and all involved. We hope to have many gatherings in the future, because at Charter Australia, we're not just building careers - we're building a family. And that's something worth celebrating every day of the week!
